Artist and Painting

Normil Andre was born in 1934 in Port-au-Prince. Like virtually all of the Haitian artists he is entirely self-taught. He is a remarkable natural draftsman delighting in painting the local scene with keen observation and humor. His animal scenes are rich in color but the tendency to repeat the same subject has tended to reduce his excellent work in value. His primary colors, composition and techniques are among the best in Haiti. His works are a must for a collector.
