Artist and Painting
Bigaud, Wilson was born in 1933 At fourteen Bigaud was encouraged by Hippolite of the Centre d’Art and quickly assimilated innovations of sophisticated painters – while remaining a primitive painter. He paints from memory and is represented in the Episcopal Cathedral by The Marriage of Cana. His works usually are realistic dramatizations of native life. He was sick in the early sixties but began to paint again in the late 60s. Many feel his recent work does not measure up to his earlier excellence. He is represented in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
